Board Member

• This classification consists of those individuals within an organisation or business who are responsible for the collection, collation and dissemination of information directly related to the products or processes of an organisation.
• This may involve the collection of data via research or communication processes within, the formatting of this data into organised information and the distribution, as required, to internal or external customers. Generally, this role will overall be focused upon streamlining business activity by developing and maintaining superior chains of knowledge management and communication.

Infrastructure Management – Transport, Utilities

• This job activity covers managers of large-scale service networks - public transport networks, ports, electricity networks, etc.
• Duties of infrastructure management include development and coordinating effective delivery of infrastructure services to local communities. OH&S, Risk Management
• Job titles include OH&S manager, risk manager, etc.
• Major role of OH&S manager/officer include reviewing, evaluating, and analysing work environments and design programs and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent disease or injury caused by chemical, physical, and biological agents or ergonomic factors. Conduct inspections and enforce adherence to laws and regulations governing the health and safety of individuals.
• The main responsibility of risk management is to identify and measure risks faced by the organisation. It also includes the development and implementation of rules and procedures that help mitigate these risks.
Operations Management
• Job titles include operations manager, chief operating officer, senior manager etc.
• Working with the management team, the position also contributes to the development and implementation of organisational strategies, policies and practices. This position will also interact with the Board of Directors.
Planning, Policy, Strategy
• Job titles include planning manager, development manager, development planner officer, strategy manager, general manager etc.
• Act as management and leadership of the development team.
• Identifying problems and barriers and developing solutions and paths to progress.
• Conducting research, report writing, evaluation and monitoring on an ongoing basis.
Printing, Design, Publishing, Web
• Job titles include design manager, print coordinator, production supervisor, web manager, etc.
• Their roles include design and production (via print, audiovisual and/or electronic media) of information from a wide variety of sources, both within and without their own organisations.
• Typically, senior officers will have access to a diverse range of production methods and a similar breadth of skills sets. Individuals in these functions will often take a project from processed data, through a detailed and structured design process and through into the publishing and maintenance of their product. Common products of these business units may include internet content, annual reports, fact sheets, research data, promotional materials etc.
Projects, Programs and Advisors
• Job titles include program manager, program coordinator, project director, project manager, project officer.
• Creates and executes project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements, identifies resources needed and assigns individual responsibilities.
• Developing, implementing and evaluating program policies, procedures and standards; determining program service levels and enhancements; developing and monitoring program budgets; providing technical advice and/or supervision to staff, other departments, the public and other agencies and performs related work as required.
Property, Assets and Fleet Management

• Roles included in this section are responsible for managing portfolios of financial assets - real estate, vehicle fleets, expensive equipment, etc.
• This activity also covers the coordination and management of vehicular fleets and supply chain management. Property management includes the processes, systems and people required to manage the life cycle of physical equipment and capital assets owned, leased and subleased by the organisation.
Public Relations and Media
• Job titles include public relations manager, media officer, media liaison officer, director etc.
• Responsibilities include using all forms of media and communication to build, maintain and manage the reputation of organisations.
• Initiating and planning PR campaigns: defining goals; analysing problems and opportunities; liaising with management and clients (internal and external); writing and editing press releases, in-house newsletters, speeches, articles and annual reports.
Purchasing and Procurement
• Job titles include purchasing manager, purchasing coordinator, procurement manager, procurement officer etc.
• The main responsibility of a purchasing manager is to search for the highest quality merchandise at the lowest possible purchase cost for their employers.
• Purchasing and procurement managers evaluate suppliers based on cost, quality, service, availability, reliability and selection variety. They attend meetings, trade shows and conferences. They inspect products and services, evaluate production and distribution abilities and consider all other aspects that may influence purchasing decisions. Activities also include planning, purchasing strategy and analysis of risk.
Quality Management
• Job titles include quality assurance manager.
• Ensure that the product or service an organisation provides is fit for its purpose and meets customer expectations. The quality assurance manager monitors and advises on how the quality management system is performing and publishes data and reports regarding organisational performance against set indicators.
• Quality assurance managers liaise with managers and staff throughout the organisation to ensure that the QA system is functioning properly. Where appropriate, the quality assurance manager advises on changes and their implementation and provides training, tools and techniques to enable others to achieve quality.
Science and Technical Research and Development
• Job titles include chief scientist, research officer, innovation and research manager, laboratory manager etc.
• Responsibilities of the roles in this section include leadership and coordination of activities in research projects; provide advice on research and development to the organisation, perform research activities in different areas of expertise and assess the benefits of research and development activities.
Security and Law Enforcement
• Job titles include security manager, head of security, commander, officer in charge, etc.

• Contains the functions of travel support, accommodation arrangement, and tourism management.
• Individuals within this category are involved in the process of planning and managing the movement of people nationally or internationally. This may include the consideration and management of various logistical factors in order to form travel itineraries, the accommodation of persons in transit via hospitality organisations (such as hostels, boarding houses and camping grounds) and the provision of amenities and service to these persons.
• This category also includes individuals who facilitate the more general process of generating tourism, by means of coordinating and working with other public and private organisations. This may include involvement in government advisory bodies, the provision of economic cooperation and assistance to relevant places in the tourism sector and working with a variety of marketing mediums to establish a public profile for a particular tourism market.
Wellbeing, Community / Social Services
• Job titles comprise community service manager, development support officer, manager. In schools, wellbeing job titles include school counsellor, chaplain, student wellbeing leader and pastoral care worker.
• Responsible for planning, organising and coordinating the activities of social service program or community outreach organisation. Oversee the program or organisation's budget and policies regarding participant involvement, program requirements and benefits.
• Establish and maintain relationships with other agencies and organisations in community in order to meet community needs and to ensure that services are not duplicated.
• School wellbeing leaders provide counselling and work together with principals, teachers and parents to promote social and emotional wellness in students.
